24 Hour Read-a-Thon: End of the Event Meme

Seeing as I failed to enter any of the mini-events during the Read-a-Thon (heaven knows how you guys do it) I thought I should at least do this one.

1. Which hour was most daunting for you? When I woke up at 05:00 and still had half of Heart of Darkness to read. It’s an incredible novel but way too dense to read at speed.

2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year? One of the books I read during the Read-a-Thon - Three to See the King by Magnus Mills. Although I didn’t read them for the Read-a-Thon I also recommend Steinbeck’s Cannery Row and The Pearl

3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? – I think the event was incredibly well organised (my hat goes off to the organisers), but maybe a little more marketing in the weeks leading up to it. Maybe it’s only me, but I only stumbled over it by chance.

4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon? – It took me just to read so I didn’t really see many of the events that were going on. I did really like Aerin’s feed page though.

5. How many books did you read? Sadly only three. However it’s three more than I would have read otherwise, so it’s all good.

6. What were the names of the books you read? The Diary of a Nobody by George & Weedon Grossmith, Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, Three to See the King by Magnus Mills

7. Which book did you enjoy most? The Diary of a Nobody

8. Which did you enjoy least? Heart of Darkness (only because it’s a book I feel that, after reading it, shouldn’t be rushed).

9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders? N/A

10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time? – Try and stop me :o ) I’d have to go for the reading role again

Thanks for the great event guys!!

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)

You did a great job! I have to agree about some books needing to be read in a more unrushed manner, I chose a bunch that looked quick and easy. But I still enjoyed reading them. Glad to see you had fun :)
