Local time is 07:43 and I’ve just finished Heart of Darkness. Whether it was was down to trying to comprehend the prose at such an early hour, or whether the material was just too dense (I think you’re right Kim
), it’s really been a tough, laborious couple of hours finishing off the second half of this book.
I move now to my third title and while I was really wanting to close this challenge by reading Nabokov’s Invitation to a Beheading, I’m fearful that four hours isn’t going to be enough time to finish it. I’m therefore closing out with Three to See the King by Magnus Mills. Hopefully I’ll finish this in time.

Keep up the good work – the end is in sight! I’m impressed that you stayed up – me the poorly lightweight went to bed! I’ve managed two books though so I’m going to get some more sleep and then try and fit in one more before the bell tolls at noon.
Rob,
I’m reading All is Quiet On the Orient Express by Magnus Mills–really enjoyed The Restraint of Beasts. I couldn’t imagine comprehending anything after 17 hours reading.
Good luck, Rob!

@Mrs S – I didn’t have time to thank you for the encouragement earlier, but I am now. I’m still marveling at how you managed to complete what you with the flu.
@Steve – Again, I didn’t have the time to respond to your kind words of support either, but they’re very much appreciated. The Restraint of Beasts has been on my ‘reading radar’ since Mark mentioned it during his Reader of the Week and you endorsed it. That was the reason I had a Magnus Mills on my bookshelf (Three to See the King actually turned out to be a really good story – very ‘fable’ in construction but really good). Funny because you’re the 2nd person who’s recommended All is Quiet On the Orient Express to me. I’ll be keeping my eyes open for that one too. Thanks!!
