Friday is RobAroundBookLists day, when I highlight one of the infinite number of recommended reading lists on the Internet, and as it’s the start of the 24 Hour Read-a-Thon tomorrow (yes I am taking part..gulp!), what better list to point to than the amazing recommended 24 Hour Read-a-Thon reading list compiled by Eva over at A Striped Armchair.
This is a list that Dewey actually links to in her Read-a-Thon page, so I’m pretty sure most of the ‘booky’ community are aware of it. However I’ve only just discovered this list for myself today and I’ve really got to take my hat off to Eva for all of her effort and cleverness in putting it together.
No matter how good they are, most recommended reading lists just list the title and author but Eva has gone the extra mile – she’s not only sorted the recommendations into specific genres, she’s also provided a synopsis for each title. Additionally, Eva also provides a note of how many pages each title contains which is useful at the best of times, but even more important (so I’m told), when selecting titles for the Read-a-Thon (you want to read lots of shorter titles rather than one of two long ones – just to keep things fresh).
I’ve discovered this list a little too late to add any of the recommendations to my own Read-a-Thon reading list for tomorrow, but this is a list for ‘all seasons’ and it’s one I’ll be coming back to again and again. I highly encourage any and all readers to go take a look at it too, and while your there grabbing a recommendation or two, why not leave a quick thank-you note to Eva. This would have eaten up a large chunk of her no doubt busy life.
