You've had a good year. Wasn't Hunger great? I read it over thirty years ago and I still remember the power of it, and his other books too. I have Water for Elephants and The Curious Incident on my shelves, it looks like it's time to get to them. I like your new blog look by the way. Happy reading in 2009.

Congrats on finishing up your joint degree. Wow!! Something to be proud of. I know it's a lot of hard work. Both your chronicles books sound fascinating (I have degrees in anthropology, too, and I love medieval history). Not sure I'll be reading them anytime soon, but they do sound interesting.

Thanks for reminding me that I have to read 'Water for Elephants'; I've been meaning to forever. And 'Chronicles' sounds wonderful. By the way, a week or so ago, my library's copy of 'A Fraction of the Whole' finally came in, but I'm sorry to say I was disappointed by the book. It was much darker in tone than I expected it to be, and I wasn't all that impressed with Toltz's showy repartees.

ps. the new site layout looks great :)
