Short Story Recommendation – The Curious Case of Benjamin Button by F Scott Fitzgerald

Call me ill-educated but I had no idea that a new movie doing the rounds at the moment, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, starring Brad Pitt, is a loose adaptation of a Fitzgerald short. Once I became informed of that fact I went in search of the story online, and found it easily. I’ve read a quick snippet and not surprisingly, considering who the author is, the story looks a good ‘un.

So never one to turn down the opportunity of reading a good short story I’ve now added this story to my ’100 Shots of Short’ reading list. The only thing I’ve got to do now is to read as soon as I can before the movie’s marketing machine reveals too many spoilers – that would just kill me!

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)

i was pleasantly surprised to find out that F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote the short story upon which the movie Benjamin Button was based, (they mention this in the opening credits)

Myrthe – Just a quickie to tell you I’m blown away with winning this award. I’ll follow all of the necessary instructions as a winner ASAP, including letting you know more officially, but I just wanted to acknowledge your kindness now.

Coffee- I’m glad they mention Fitzgerald in the opening credits for the movie. It’s only a mater of time before a search for ‘Benjamin Button’ on Google brings up nothing but links for the movie so it’s great that the inspiration for the movie won’t be quickly buried

This movie was good, but I don’t know that it deserved the slew of Oscar nominations it received.

Thanks for that Pinky. I’ll probably still watch the movie out of curiosity some time, and as it stars Brad Pitt my wife almost certainly will too….*rolls eyes* :o )
