Parisian Bibliomaniacs – The Reader’s Read Blog has put up a ‘must watch’ clip from David Turecamo of CBS News of a feature about literary Paris and the bibliomaniacs that can be found therein.

Highlights? A tour around French bibliomaniac Sylvain Larose’s (spelling?) apartment where impossibly teetering stacks of books, which cover every available space, threaten to fall at any moment..mmm…nice!! :o ); and Martin Stone, who makes a good living from trawling Parisian bookstores and markets for resalable titles (I’m not motivated by the need to profiteer but I certainly am with the thought of endlessly trawling for books).

The video also speaks with John Baxter, a ‘bibliomaniac’ with over 1/2 million books, who wrote of his obsession in a title that fellow bibliophiles may be interested in - A Pound of Paper (Wow! A book on books I’ve yet to read..wahoo!! :o )). Well worth the 6:32 minute viewing time.

Debut author takes Waterstone’s Children’s Book Prize 2009 – It was announced on Wednesday 18th that Michelle Harrison had taken the Waterstone’s Children’s Book Prize 2009 with her debut book The Thirteen Treasures. I’m not a big children’s book fan (unless you count my recent read of Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book), but it’s always nice to hear when a debut author starts ‘living the dream’. ::via The Guardian

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)
