“25 Famous Librarians Who Changed History” – Laura Milligan over at OnlineBestColleges.com has a really nice post on the ‘superhero’ librarians who, throughout time, have changed history. What’s all the more special about Laura’s post is she even includes two librarians, Jessamyn West and Nancy Pearl, who are in the process of changing history as we speak. ::via AbeBooks

Arise Sir Terry! – As everyone knows, there’s a lot of bad things happening in Terry Pratchett’s life at the moment, but yesterday gave him cause to celebrate something good for change. Kneeling before Her Majesty, Terry received his much deserved knighthood for services to literature. Congratulations Sir Terry!

Happy Birthday Carson McCullers – Perhaps best known for her novel The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (a book I’m due to read as part of my ’50 Novel’ reading challenge), today marks the birthday of Carson McCullers who sadly died in 1967 (the same year I was born as it happens).

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)
