‘Book Bites’ for Tuesday 17th Feb 2009

‘Found in Books’In an article on things found on the London Underground, Elizabeth over at AbeBook’s Reading Copy Blog points to an excellent in-house article by Richard Davies on things left in books. This is something that fascinates me and Richard’s article, which focuses primarily on a bookstore display of book-buried discoveries created by Adam Tobin of Unnameable Books, is superb.

It’s a topic I spoke about myself I couple of months ago now (remember I spoke of a letter I found from former SS officer Helmuth Spaeter), and more recently I also found that endearing ‘beach babe’ in my copy of Paul Collins’ Sixpence House, a photograph which sadly still hasn’t been claimed.

Happy Birthday Mr. Potok – Although sadly not with us any more (he died in 2002 aged 73), it’s no excuse not to note that today is Chaim Potok’s birthday. Potok is an author I’m going to get to know intimately in the next few weeks when I read The Chosen both as part of my 50 Novels in One Year reading challenge, and my previously announced mini New York reading challenge.

‘Coverlicious’ novels list – Over at my favourite booklist site, Flashlight Worthy co-founder Peter has put up a list from AbeBooks of 30 novels with cover designs that are hard to resist (and I’ve got to agree with him)

‘Book Bites’bringing you tasty bite-size morsels of bookish news and delight, from around the web.

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)
