I mentioned it being spoken about during the ‘Parisian bibliomaniacs’ video clip I pointed you to in a ‘Book Bites’ post last week. I twittered about ordering at the weekend, and in post-haste fashion a copy of John Baxter’s A Pound of Paper hit my doormat this morning.
I may have only just announced that I’ve started reading Torsten Krol’s Callisto, but I’m really excited about reading this one too. Check out this bit of the cover blurb:
“A Pound of Paper is a brilliantly readable, honest and funny account of a life spent in pursuit of a passion – of how a boy from the bush came to be living in a Paris penthouse with a library worth millions”
Mmmm…scrumdiddlyumptious as Roald Dahl might have said
)
Anyway, I’ve had a quick flick through the book and it looks as though the chapters are set out more as essays rather than a chronological record, so I think I can read it rather loosely, fitting in the odd chapter or two as and when (difficult when I’ve all my short story reading to do as well, but where there’s a will..*grin*).
So who’s already read this? How did you like it? Love to hear from you!
I read this four years ago and all I can say is that I liked it and felt a comfort in reading it…like I had met a kindred spirit. But I do not remember any particulars which is why I use my blog as a journal…so that four years from now, I can look back and see why I liked, loved or hated a book.

I've read the first three chapters of it so far and I'm feeling that comfort somewhat too. Baxter has a definite 'warm glow' to his writing. But then again he is writing about ‘book love’ I suppose, something which makes all of us bookworms glow..emm so that would make us ‘glow worms’ as well wouldn’t it? Sorry I’ll shut up!

Anyway thanks for dropping by and saying hi!
Warmest
