‘Book Bites’ for Thursday 12th March 2009

Camilla Läckberg’s Top 10 Swedish crime reads – The Guardian has a nice ‘recommended reading’ post today courtesy of Swedish crime writer Camilla Läckberg, in which she lists ten of her favourite crime novels penned by fellow Swedes.

This is a nice list from Camilla and it’s not surprising to see a couple of Karin Alvtegen titles on it. I’ve become somewhat enamoured with Alvtegen, and indeed the whole genre of Swedish crime fiction, since finishing my first Alvtegen novel last month (Canongate Book’s newly published translation of Skugga, which not surprisingly in English is called Shadow – my ‘afterthoughts’ on it can be found HERE). The Scandinavian crime genre is surprisingly good and if you’ve never given it a try before then I suggest you do, especially with Camilla’s list offering you a great starting point (provided you add Alvtegen’s Shadow to the list of course)

‘Book Bites’bringing you tasty bite-size morsels of bookish news and delight, from around the web.

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)
