Keira Knightley set for chief Ishiguro role – I didn’t even know an adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s Never Let Me Go was in the works, but it is and it’s been announced that the lead role of Kathy will be played by Keira Knightley. Having read the book last year (afterthoughts) I’ve got the main character entrenched in my head, and I can say that Keira seems like a great choice. I just wonder how well this one is going to translate. :: via GalleyCat

Writing for a living – Yuck or Yay? – Irish author Colm Tóibín whose new novel Brooklyn is out in May (I’ve already voiced my excitement about that one), opened a bit of a can of worms recently by stating that he hates writing (his exact words were actually “Oh there’s no pleasure. Except that I don’t have to work for anyone who bullies me”). The Guardian are keeping the can of worms well and truly opened in an article asking other authors what think about the noble art of writing. As you might expect some enjoy, and some don’t. Regardless, it makes for interesting reading, if only to see Will Self using the opportunity as he usually does, to practice his vocabulary skills: ‘Transmogrification’ – great word Will! :o )

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)
