Site News: A small cosmetic change to the main header

The eagle-eyed among you (or at least those who visit the site and don’t just pick up the feed), would probably have noticed a small cosmetic change to the header of RobAroundBooks. To be honest I was getting a little bit tired at how blank the top of the site looked, so I changed the header graphic slightly to make it a bit more interesting.

The thing is I’m still not 100% happy with it and I think it needs something else. So if you see me tweaking around with the header again over the next few days then just ignore me – it’s a mid-life crisis thing :o )

Thoughts, comments and opinions are of course always welcome.

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)

  1. Site tweaking is half the fun of blogging!

    Looks good to me :)

  2. I like it so far. The colors are a bit 1970′s but I like it. Yours is one of the better designed book sites out there. If you’re still interested in making a button for Short Story Sunday I could sure use one. I don’t know when I’ll get to it myself. My students are turning in their term papers as I type this….

  3. @Bart – I agree site tweaking is half the fun of blogging, but not when it’s eating up one’s valuable reading time. Thanks for reassuring words.

@CBJames – Firstly, you’re being ever so kind, but ‘better designed’ can be so subjective :o ). I get the retro 70s feel too, that’s what I’m aiming for, with a contemporary slant :o )

As for the Short Story Sunday button – I clean forgot I offered. Now you’ve made me blush I’ll drop over an email so we can work out the kind of thing you’re looking for. Good luck marking those papers..ouch!

EDIT: CB – 204mountain at comcast dot com coming back as undeliverable address?!?

  4. You’re too hard on yourself … I think it looks fantastic! I am still using a lame blogger template because I have a fear of design.

  5. I like it. The text makes the viewer look a little more closely at the header, which is a nice tribute to some great authors.

  6. @Kristen – You’re kind, very kind, although ‘fantastic’ may be stretching it a bit too far :o )
@Memory – Thank you for your kind opinion also. Although it’s beginning to look like a big ego stoking exercise from me :o )
