Extra! Extra! 100 years of 100-year-old British papers now online – I caught this news on Jacket Copy last Friday but forgot to pass it on. The good old British Library have launched a web portal in which one can explore 100 years of British newspapers published between 1800-1900. Great news indeed until you realise that not all of the papers are accessible for free. Some are some aren’t, and there are various paid subscriptions in between. Check out the British Library site for full details.
NPR prodding for favourite beach reads – If you have a favourite beach read and you want to tell everyone about it, then the best place to do that right now may be the NPR website. They’re currently drawing up a list of the best beach books ever, and they’re asking readers to put forward their recommendations (up to a maximum of three). My favourite beach read? I don’t have one. I abhor the thought of vegetating on a crowded beach with nothing for company but screaming kids and sand in the crevices *shudder* I know, boring prude!
Snowbooks launch White magazine – I spied on the Snowblog, the blogging portal of indy publisher Snowbooks, that they’ve just gone and launched themselves a new online magazine, appropriately called White magazine. Here’s what they say about it:
White magazine is a place for people who like Snowbooks. It’s a treasure house of special features from Snowbooks – features such as free content, insights into our authors and how they work, interviews, extracts, downloads, and special offers. It’s a place where you can tell us what you think: of our books, our plans, our business.
First impressions – it looks good. Get yourself along and check it out for yourself.
