Daily Bookshot: Don’t Kill it Daddy!

Don’t Kill it Daddy!, originally uploaded by Robert Burdock.

Having proclaimed my discovery of the incredible ‘Little People’ street art of Slinkachu in a recent ‘On The Radar’ post, I can now report that I’ve got the delightful little book in my hands, and I love it.

Little People in the City contains fifty-three of Slinkachu’s wonderfully creative urban arrangements. Each is shown in close-up, as on the front cover (this one’s titled ‘They’re Not Pets, Susan’ by the way), and also in its wider context; which not only shows the minuteness of Slinkachu’s ‘Little People’ but also illustrates their vulnerability.

As a bonus there’s also a great introduction by Will Self, which although ostentatiously worded (would we expect anything else from Self?), is glowing in its praise.

Not bad for £6.00 as seems to be the current price both on Amazon UK and Waterstone’s (non-affiliate links).

Oh and if you missed it first time around, Slinkachu also has a dedicated ‘Little People’ blog which showcases even more of his miniature creations. Well worth a look at!

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)

I need to get this book. I’ve seen some of the other photographs and I think they are terrific.

It’s certainly something a bit special CB. I fell in love with it (and the idea), the moment I picked it up in the shop.
