Next stop Berlin. Oxygen Books announce latest city-lit destination

city-lit Berlin Oxygen Books have announced that the latest in their city-lit series, city-lit Berlin (ISBN: 9780955970047), will be released on November 5th to tie in with the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall (November 9th, 1989).

The third title to be released in this unique series; a series in which extracts of some of the finest literary writings on a featured city are presented, city-lit Berlin will follow the same winning formula as was employed in the publication of the first two titles in the city-lit series edited by Heather Reyes (Paris and London), but with the added addition of a co-editor in Berlin-based writer and translator Katy Derbyshire, whose skills in translation have brought a whole host of newly-translation extracts to the title.

In an eclectic mix of over 60 writers, who range from Hans Fallada to David Bowie and W G Sebald to Ian McEwan, city-lit Berlin, is presented in themed chapters which cover much of Berlin’s colourful and varied past. From accounts of living under the oppressive Nazi regime, to life in Berlin after the Wall and beyond, Oxygen Books promise a title that will ‘get right under the skin of the city’.

Fronted with an introduction from Berlin resident and travel writer Rory MacLean, city-lit Berlin will see its official launch being hosted at London’s Goethe Institute.

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)
