Rob’s back!

Hi Folks! Well I thought I’d quickly check in before my official return to blogging tomorrow to let you know that all is well, and that my week’s break from blogging (plus 2 days) has done me an absolute world of good. I said in my ‘absence notice’ post last week that I wasn’t sure if I was doing the right thing by taking a week off, but sitting here fully-charged and raring to go, I know now that that was the right move to make.

I also said last week that my biggest fear about taking a break was losing some of the little credibility I’d managed to build up over the past year and a half. Thankfully, along with many appreciated notes of support, my daily hits and subscriber numbers have remained largely unaffected (you were right Eva :) ), and that’s solely down to you guys for having the faith and understanding to stick by me. So I really want to thank you all for ‘keeping the faith’ (Mrs. Rob actually said that you guys would have been glad of the break from me. I chose to ignore that comment :) )

Actually it was probably a good job that I did announce a week’s hiatus from blogging, because the week didn’t start off too well. Poor old Steinbeck (the dog) was unexpectedly and undeservedly attacked by a nasty Mastiff, and so the first half of the week was all about getting the poor dog through a bit of surgery (his shoulder needed stitched up – photo HERE – not too graphic), before heaping loads of love and attention on him – yep even more than usual :) .

Thankfully Steinbeck’s bounced back quickly, and although he’s still confined to his lead until the stitches come out on Wednesday (not easy keeping him on I can tell ya :) ), he’s back to his usual bouncy and overly-friendly self. More importantly he doesn’t appear to have lost any love for other dogs, which was of prime importance to Mrs. Rob and I.

Unfortunately all of this unexpected trauma kept me away from a lot of the ‘behind the scenes’ stuff I had planned on doing during the week. But I see that as largely immaterial. I did get the time I needed to recharge myself. I did get the time I needed for plenty of clear thinking. And most importantly I did manage to get a lot of stuff crammed in my head down on paper. So we’ll all get to see the results of all of this in the coming weeks.

Anyway enough tales of woe. I return tomorrow, and I apologise beforehand for the flood of ‘Shots of Shock’ updates that will be immediately following this post.

My thanks again for your continued support and friendship, and my apologies to anyone who has thought I’d been ignoring them over the past seven days.

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)

Great to be back Stu (well almost). Thank you for your sentiments. Thankfully Steinbeck seems to have bounced back to normal. So hopefully we can put this whole nasty episode behind us forever.
      Warmest
