Daily Bookshot: All Yale the Queens!

All Yale the Queens!, originally uploaded by Robert Burdock.

Considering I’ve been waiting for it to arrive since I ordered it on Christmas Day, I was remarkably calm and reserved when the postman handed this book over to me yesterday. OK I’m lying – I grabbed it, I hugged it and then I punched the air yelling a triumphant YEEESSS!!! (don’t worry the postman is used to it :) )

I had good reason for my uncontrolled outburst though (aside from the customary celebrations of a new book arrival of course). You see I already own the first title in the Neighborhoods of New York City series from Yale University Press – The Neighborhoods of Brooklyn, and it is undoubtedly one of my top 5 favourites books of all time (I’ll tell you why some other time). So I’m really excited about the prospect of this second one, The Neighborhoods of Queens (the only other title to be published in this Yale series so far), because if it’s even only half as good as the first one, then there’s going to be another new favourite in my Top 5. A good enough reason for the extra excitement? You’d better believe it!

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)
