Daily Bookshot: Say Hello to Hector

Say Hello to Hector, originally uploaded by Robert Burdock.

Say hello to Hector, because I think we’re all going to see a lot more of him in the coming weeks, and not just on RobAroundBooks. You see his UK publisher, Gallic Books, are very excited about him coming to these shores in April in his shiny new English translation. And so they’re getting the word out and about.

The full title of the book is Hector and the Search for Happiness and it’s the work of French author Francois Lelord. And while many people around the world have already joined Hector on his globe-trekking adventures in pursuit of true happiness, this is the first time that Lelord’s modern fable has been published in English. So new and happy reading times ahead for English-speakers, we hope!

More from me a bit closer to April’s publication date, but in the meantime keep a close eye out for Hector when you’re out and about. I’ve a funny feeling he’s going to be popping up all over the place.

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)

  1. *grins* Hector popped up in my letterbox last week as well! :)

  2. Hi Rob – it landed in my letterbox too and I loved every minute of it. Such a feel good factor book. It only takes a couple of hours to read so I hope it makes its way to your reading list soon :)

You can read my review here if you like – no spoilers: http://www.bluearchipelagoreviews.com/2010/hector-search-happiness-francois-lelord/

Emmm…I’m not so sure I am going to be reading for a while Clare. It looks like Gallic have flooded the blogosphere with this one and it seems a bit pointless reviewing it, at least until the dust has settled a bit.
Anyway, it’s great hearing from you, and thanks for the review link.
      Warmest
      Rob
