Bookshelf of the Week: Aqua Bookshelves

Almost forgetting that it was Bookshelf of the Week day today, I was lucky enough to stumble across this wonderful bookshelf shot, as shared by interior designer Cassandra Lavalle of coco+kelley (website, blog).

What this photograph does more than anything else I think, is to demonstrate how forcibly bookshelves can be used to accent the colour of a room, when they are presented in such a strong and contrasting hue. While the bookcases are perfectly placed to take advantage of what – given the size and placement of the doorway – could probably be considered a ‘dead space’, these aqua bookshelves perfectly pick out the aqua furniture present in the adjoining room, while the bookcases themselves become the primary design statement of the area as a whole.

I love these aqua bookcases, but then again wouldn’t any bibliophile love a design feature where the bookshelves themselves are the primary focus of attention? :) Share your thoughts fellow reader.

My thanks to Cassandra for sharing such a great shot.

About Rob

Rob, a self-confessed bibliophile, is without any hope of rehabilitation. He gets unnaturally excited over anything book-shaped, and if book sniffing were a crime then he would have been locked up years ago (which wouldn't bother him in the slightest provided his cell was lined with books)
