As I come to Day #29 of my Flash Clash reading challenge, I reach another mini milestone – this is the last day in this challenge that I will reading David Gaffney. And that’s because – just as it was with Nik Perring and Etgar Keret – I’ve come to the end of Gaffney’s story collection. I’d like to say that he went out on a high. And with his story, Life Just Bounces Gaffney pretty much did; quite literally. He ended up placing as joint highest scorer for the day, equal with one of the Dan Rhodes’ flash offerings, Support.
So now Gaffney pops off and joins Perring and Keret in the wings, while the challenge drops down to me finishing off reading the collections of the last two authors. On the bright this should ensure that I fly even faster through my daily updates for this challenge, which I’m sure is a bit of godsend for everyone
.
Anyway, here’s a summary of how today’s flash reading went:
*Keeping in the spirit of flash I’m limiting myself to only giving single-word comments for each story.
**As they are incredibly short in length, David Gaffney’s stories are being ‘ticked off’ two at a time.
*** Dan Rhode’s stories are even shorter than Gaffney’s and to ensure that I finish his collection in time, I have to cover three per day.
