Story Title: ‘The Last Fare’ by Philip St John.
Collection/Anthology?: Bristol Short Story Prize Anthology 4 (Bristol Review of Books)
Briefly: Dudley knows, along with the rest of the taxi drivers, that travelling the road to Chapeltown at night-time isn’t a good idea. However, the couple who have just landed from Miami put forward an irresistible offer.
Afterthoughts: Standard storytelling fare from Irish author St. John. Nothing extraordinary perhaps, but a good story well told, and one that’s tense and engaging.
